Papua New Guinea Medium-Dark Roast Blend

All the way from Papua New Guinea... SUPERSONIC has landed!

SUPERSONIC makes me think of s’mores: melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows plus graham crackers and smokiness from the campfire. Of course, we don’t actually roast the coffee over a campfire. To get that complexity and earthiness, we take a medium roast Papua New Guinea coffee and add a dash of dark roast Sumatran and Latin American beans.

(No actual chocolate/ marshmallows/ crackers, or campfires are involved in making this coffee for you!)

Summer may be a couple months away but this coffee has got me already dreaming about it.

From a small family-owned coffee farm in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea to your coffeemaker. We are so lucky to bring you this special coffee from the other side of the world!

PNG is still quite remote and exotic. Its coffees are excellent. That is no surprise when you think of the terrain and climate - situated by the equator at the western edge of the Malay Archipelago.

I have travelled lots, including to many coffee growing counties. But PNG is one place I have not yet had a chance to visit. Yet it’s been on my bucket list ever since my uncle Greg and his partner, Dianne, backpacked there when I was a kid. When they returned from an 18-month long journey around the world, the stories and photos that made the biggest impression on me were those from Papua New Guinea.

My interest in PNG was sparked by Greg and Dianne’s travels stories. And my interest in PNG coffee was piqued by my friend, Seema, also a member of the Sparkplug Autopilot Coffee Club. Seema lived and worked in PNG a few years ago and when she talks about her time there, and how much she enjoyed it, she always mentions the coffee and how delicious it was.

Find out for yourself what is so special about coffee from Papua New Guinea!
